If toking weed is a preferred habit of yours, try to avoid the Sunshine State.
Evan Anderson at Muckrock compiled an extensive report on where not to smoke in America based on the number of citations handed out to smokers. Topping the list was Florida, which not only leads in yearly citations per capita, but also is where possession of more than 20 grams of weed can land you in jailfor five years.
“Even after controlling for population, Florida still surpasses the rest of the states by far, handing out tickets to one in 294 people in 2011,” Anderson writes. “Compare this to Arizona, the next largest distributor of marijuana citations per capita in the sample, which issued one citation for every 3,313 people in 2011.”
